LVIV PRIVATE TOUR
Making the important decision to book a private tour in Lviv provides an exceptional opportunity for a highly personalized and engaging exploration experience in one of the last great European cities.
A Lviv private tour with In Lviv Tours is perfectly adapted to match your interests and preferences.
Lviv is complex and layered, it's impossible to visit once and leave without ever returning. Our city is rather like a book, and it must be read page by page, chapter to chapter, until the end.
A visit to Lviv means embarking upon a new and uncertain relationship that will ultimately endure. Having worked in Rome for over two decades, we understand this.
With the guidance of a local expert Lviv tour guide, immerse yourself in the rich historical tapestry of Lviv and the breathtaking architecture we have grown accustomed to that you will be enchanted by.
This approach guarantees focused attention and exclusive insider perspectives, which will enable you to uncover hidden treasures and experience authentic moments that remain out of reach on group tours.
Whether you're drawn to iconic landmarks such as Rynok Square, or captivated by Lviv's flourishing café culture, a private tour fosters a truly intimate connection with the unique allure of Lviv.
Moreover, private Lviv tours offer flexibility as regards timing and planning, making them ideal for travellers who seek an absolutely thorough experience.
For those yearning to discover Lviv in a tailor-made manner, choosing to book a Lviv private tour is without any shadow of doubt the most rewarding option.
The cost of a private tour in Europe is much higher than in Lviv. We own a tour company in Rome and our private tours there begin with a high base price to cover €50 per hour tour guide fees. It's plain to see that a private tour in Lviv offers immense value, not seen anywhere else.
No one really knows why tour guides in Italy think they are so good that they can expect such extortionate sums of money. It's different in Lviv, guide fees are less and, in turn, our private tour costs are lower than average.
One may ask why group tours in Lviv exist at all, as looking around at bookable Lviv tours in English, the cost of a group tour spot approximates to that of our private tours. Obviously it makes more sense to go for a privately guided tour in Lviv.
It's overcharging by other Lviv tour operators who simply cannot distinguish between the value of a group tour and that of a private tour. It may be down to lack of experience in the tours and activities sector. This being Ukraine, we're not surprised.
The fact is that cost of venue tickets and tour guide fees dictate the price of every tour everywhere.
As the duration of a private tour is longer than that of a group tour, and more ticketed venues are visited on a private tour, group tours should be cheaper. That's not the case here in Lviv and we don't know why.
As of 2025, inbound tourism to Lviv and wider Ukraine is still developing and not even quickly, although this will change abruptly at some point. Most operators in Lviv are Ukrainian and some of them only offer tours in Ukrainian. Their websites are lavishly turgid relics from the 1990s, their market domestic.
At time of writing, there are only two tour operators in Lviv owned by foreigners, In Lviv Tours and Lviv Buddy, the latter founded by a German national. Lviv Buddy is some sort of exercise in free tours. Anyway, he left Lviv several years ago because of war and his site has been broken for most of that time.
Our story is different in that we have been working in tourism for almost two decades. All that experience, earned in extremely competitive destinations (Rome and Pompeii in Italy), sets us apart from everyone in Lviv. Not better than anyone else, but not worse either.
It was never a case of just randomly moving to Lviv, liking the city, then publishing a website offering walking tours.
Pete Gr headed the most successful independent tour operator in Rome for over ten years. He was preparing a web project about Holocaust tours in Eastern Europe that included a visit to Lviv back in 2012.
What In Lviv Tours has become, and there were several earlier variants in 2016 and 2018, is simply a natural progression from what we do in Rome and Pompeii.
In Rome, we've trimmed our group tours down to a handful and they'll be unpublished in due course. Our Pompeii and Herculaneum site is all about private tours. There's a private tours website about Athens, Greece in the pipeline. It follows that In Lviv Tours offers private tours of Lviv.
